Assistant Professor of Environmental & Water Resources Engineering

Civil, Environmental, & Infrastructure Engineering Dept., George Mason University

ABOUT ME

I'm an assistant professor at George Mason University in Environmental & Water Resources Engineering concentration. I am an alumni of Stanford University (MS 2017, PhD 2020) and Sarah Lawrence College (BA 2010). I conduct research on the dynamics of contaminant mixtures in drinking water systems, from source water quality to drinking water treatment to distribution and exposure at the tap. Current projects include evaluating the impacts of intermittent distribution on disinfection byproduct mixtures in drinking waters of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and modeling the effects of potential new disinfection byproduct regulations on utility operations and exposure risk. I am currently hiring graduate students to begin new projects. Please email me at kfurst@gmu.edu.
